This section gives a series of little walks, off the well-worn tourist areas whereby the tourist visitor to Luxor can begin to explore the town and see something of the life of the local people without coming into contact with the hassle that puts so many people off visiting the commercial bazaar areas around Luxor Temple. Our Street Map , although sketchy, will help you find your initial bearings.
Most of the walks are circular and are relatively short which will give you time to look around any shops that might capture your interest. Alternatively, you might like to stop in a local coffee shop and watch the world go by.
We have started with a circular walk from the Sonesta Hotel in Khaled Ibn el Walid Street which will take you down Sharif el Rhoda Street, known as 'Little Britain Street', along Medina Street and back up to the Sonesta. More walks will be added as they are completed. If you have done a walk in Luxor that you think will interest others then please submit it to us. We will try it out, upload it and credit it to you.
Our walks are listed below. Please just click on a link. Feel free to print the details off and take them with you when you venture out. |
